Laurentian University – French-language Programs
French Language Program offered in Alternative Mode, January 21, 2004
In accordance with Regulation 347/02, Accreditation of Teacher Education Programs,
the Accreditation Committee, at its January 21, 2004 meeting, granted initial
accreditation with a condition to the proposed French-language Consecutive
Program of Professional Education Primary/ Junior offered in Alternative Mode
at Laurentian University, for the period of two years (2006) or the period
of time ending on the graduation of the second class of students enrolled in
the program, whichever is the longer period of time, not to exceed three years
(2007).
The condition on the grant of initial accreditation shall be that:
- the practicum enables every student to participate in settings related
to each division, Paragraph 9 (2) (3) Regulation 347/02, Accreditation of
Teacher Education Programs.
Initial accreditation with a condition was granted upon consideration of the
recommendation in the Accreditation Panel Final Report that «all students,
including those holding a letter of permission must be able to complete a practicum
in each division during the normal term of the program» as per Regulation
347/02, Accreditation of Teacher Education Programs, Paragraph 9 (2) (3).
Sufficient information was not provided to ensure that individuals working
in schools on letters of permission would all be able to meet the regulatory
requirements.
In making its decision the Committee considered:
- the final report of the accreditation panel
- the response of the School of Education of Laurentian University, dated
December 9, 2003 to the panel’s draft report
- regulatory requirements of Regulation 347/02, Accreditation of Teacher
Education Programs, and Regulation 184/97, Teachers’ Qualifications.

Removal of Condition
At its April 15, 2004 meeting, the Accreditation Committee, in accordance
with Regulation 347/02, Accreditation of Teacher Education Programs, removed
the condition on the initial accreditation of the proposed French-language
Consecutive Program of Professional Education Primary/ Junior offered in Alternative
Mode, having been satisfied that the condition had been met.
In making its decision the Committee considered evidence provided by the School
of Education of Laurentian University in their request to remove the condition,
dated March 24, 2004.

French Language Consecutive Program, July 28, 2004
In accordance with Regulation 347/02, Accreditation of Teacher Education Programs,
the Accreditation Committee, at its July 28, 2004 meeting, granted general
accreditation to the French-language Consecutive Program of Professional Education
in the Primary/Junior, Junior/Intermediate and Intermediate/Senior divisions
offered at Laurentian University for a period of five years (2009).
In making its decision the Committee considered:
- the final report of the accreditation panel
- the response of the School of Education of Laurentian University, dated
June 28, 2004, to the panel’s draft report,
- regulatory requirements of Regulation 347/02, Accreditation of Teacher
Education Programs, and Regulation 184/97, Teachers’ Qualifications.

Amendment to Expiry Date
In accordance with the May 1, 2009 amendment to the accreditation period for programs of professional education in the Accreditation Regulation, the expiry date for the regular consecutive program is amended to July 28, 2011.
