As of January 3, 2022 all Ontario Certified Teachers, applicants, and re-applicants are required to complete an online sexual abuse prevention program. The program is being offered at no cost and will be available on January 3, 2022.

For additional information, please visit the FAQ page.

Ontario Certified Teachers

All individuals who are members of the College as of January 1, 2022 must successfully complete the program by August 31, 2022. On January 3, 2022, a notation will be added to the certificates and public register pages of all Ontario Certified Teachers to indicate whether the program is “completed” or “to be completed.” On August 31, 2022, the “to be completed” notation will change to “incomplete.”

Ontario Applicants

Ontario applicants who complete their application before January 1, 2022 and become certified must successfully complete the program by August 31, 2022.

Ontario applicants who complete their application on or after January 1, 2022 must successfully complete the program to be considered eligible for certification.

Internationally Educated Teacher (IET) Applicants

IET applicants are individuals who completed a program of professional education outside of Canada, which led to certification to teach in that jurisdiction.

IET applicants who complete their application before January 1, 2022 and become certified must successfully complete the program by August 31, 2022.

IET applicants who complete their application on or after January 1, 2022 must successfully complete the program to be considered eligible for certification.

Labour Mobility Applicants (OLMA)

Labour mobility applicants are teachers who have been certified to teach in another Canadian province or territory and are certified with the College pursuant to the Ontario Labour Mobility Act. OLMA applicants who are certified before January 1, 2022 must complete the program by August 31, 2022.

OLMA applicants who are certified on or after January 1, 2022 must complete the program within one year of their certification date.

As of January 3, 2022, OLMA applicants who become certified will have their certificates and public register pages read that the program is “to be completed.” If the program is successfully completed, the notation will read “completed.” After the one-year deadline passes and the program has not been completed, the notation will read “incomplete.”

When is an Application Considered Complete?

A complete application includes the receipt of all required documentation and applicable fees by the College. Please see the Registration Guides to learn what documents and fees are required to complete your application for certification with the College.

Notations
