College Leadership Learn more about the people who lead the College.
Professional learning is an integral part of the teaching profession. We expect all members will participate in ongoing learning throughout their careers, with the goal of improving outcomes for Ontario students.
Many programs are available to help Ontario Certified Teachers expand their knowledge, enhance classroom skills and prepare for career changes. These courses are offered by colleges, universities, teacher federations, principals’ and Supervisory Officers’ organizations, community and subject organizations, and school boards.
Designed by teachers, for teachers, Additional Basic Qualifications (ABQs) and Additional Qualification courses (AQs) reflect the experience and pedagogy of the teaching profession. When completed, they are recorded on member teaching certificates.
We regularly review and update guidelines for additional qualification courses. If you’d like to provide feedback, please review our draft guidelines.
If you would like to contribute to the development of Additional Qualification course guidelines, please read the description of selection criteria, roles and responsibilities, and complete the Expression of Interest Form.
The College will notify applicants as opportunities become available.
For more information about the development process for Additional Qualifications, please see this process chart.
