Members: for any AQ-related questions, please visit our ‘Ask a Question’ page.

One-Session Honour Specialist Additional Qualification courses focus on developing the capacity for curriculum leadership.

Teachers who enroll in a Honour Specialist Additional Qualification course possess a strong knowledge base in a particular subject area(s) and have at least two years of successful teaching experience, including one year in Ontario in the subject(s) in which the Honour Specialist is sought.

Candidates include teachers interested in providing leadership at the elementary, secondary and district levels as well as those interested in engaging in subject-specific ongoing professional learning.

Courses are open to candidates that meet the entry requirements identified in Teachers’ Qualifications Regulation.

Some qualifications that existed before August 31, 2008 have been renamed or discontinued or their guidelines have been revised. The College is working with education partners to develop guidelines for new qualifications, which will be posted in draft form for your review and comment as soon as they are available. Guidelines for some existing qualifications are also being revised.
