Minutes of the Meeting with the Transition Supervisory Officer of the Ontario College of Teachers held via Videoconference on December 8, 2021

1. Call to Order/Welcome

The meeting was called to order at 11:00 a.m. The Registrar, Derek Haime, welcomed all those present.

2. Agenda

No amendments to the meeting agenda were requested.

3. Conflict of Interest

No conflicts were declared.

4. Minutes

• 4.1 Meeting, September 15, 2021

  The minutes of the September 15, 2021 meeting with the Transition Supervisory Officer were approved as presented.

• 4.2 Special Meeting, October 21, 2021

  The minutes of the October 21, 2021 special meeting with the Transition Supervisory Officer were approved as presented.

5. Risks and Strategic Priorities

• 5.1 Registrar’s Report

  The report of the Registrar was received.

  The Registrar, Derek Haime, provided a verbal review of the report and responded to questions.

  The Transition Supervisory Officer recommended that the College continue to investigate ways to improve communication to and from school boards, noting in particular the continuing delays in receiving requested information from some boards.

  The Transition Supervisory Officer also extended his gratitude and appreciation for the work done by College staff to facilitate the governance transition and implementation of the government-mandated sexual abuse prevention program.

• 5.2 Financial Report

  The Controller, Fred Towers, presented the financial report to September 30, 2021 and responded to questions.

6. Correspondence

Correspondence to and from the Ministry of Education was provided for information.

7. Adjournment

The Transition Supervisory Officer thanked members of the Senior Leadership Team for the information presented and commended the College for the support provided to him throughout his term.
