Minutes of the Special Meeting of Council of the Ontario College of Teachers held via Videoconference on March 2, 2022

1. Call to Order/Welcome

The Chair called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. and welcomed all those present.

2. Agenda

It was moved by Valerie Williamson, seconded by Peter Dinsdale, and by consensus,

CARRIED,

That the Agenda for the March 2, 2022 Special Meeting of Council be approved.

Preparation time of one half-day was confirmed.

3. Conflict of Interest

No conflicts were declared.

4. Business

• 4.1 Proposed Amendments to Ontario Regulations 176/10, Teachers’ Qualifications and 347/02, Accreditation of Teacher Education Programs

  The Registrar introduced Demetra Saldaris, Director of Standards of Practice and Accreditation, who provided background information on proposed amendments to regulations reflecting prior Council direction related to Additional Qualification courses. Following a review of the proposed amendments, the Director responded to questions.

  It was moved by Elaine Lajeunesse, seconded by Maria Vasanelli, and by consensus,

  CARRIED,

  That Council approve the amendments to Ontario Regulations 176/10, Teachers Qualifications and 347/02, Accreditation of Teacher Education Programs, as outlined in Document GC20220302-02, Attachments 1C and 2C.
