1. Call to Order/Welcome
The Chair of Council, Nicole van Woudenberg, called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and welcomed all present. She thanked members for making themselves available and referred to the need for the special meeting to mitigate risk to the organization and complete College business prior to the year end.
2. Agenda and Approval of Preparation Time (GC20191230-140)
The Chair of Council confirmed that one half-day of per diem time was allocated for the Special Meeting and that no preparation time was required.
It was moved by Susan E. Elliott-Johns, seconded by Rebecca Forte, and
CARRIED,
That the Agenda for the December 30, 2019 Special Meeting of Council be approved.
3. Conflict of Interest
No conflicts were declared.
4. Business
4.1 Appointment of Interim Deputy Registrar (GC20191230-141)
The Chair noted that she would be sharing a recommendation from the Human Resources Committee.
It was moved by Nicole van Woudenberg, seconded by Tom Potter, and
CARRIED,
That Council move into an In Camera Session with Council members, the Registrar and the Council and Committees Officer present to deal with a personnel matter.
After moving out of the in camera session, the Chair of Council reported out on the motion approved by Council to appoint Paul Picard, OCT as the Interim Deputy Registrar for the Ontario College of Teachers commencing December 30, 2019.
The CEO and Registrar, Michael Salvatori, provided details of the transition plan developed to assist in onboarding the Interim Deputy Registrar.
