Transitional Certificate of Qualification and Registration now available

Eligible teacher candidates are now able to apply for the new Transitional Certificate of Qualification and Registration (TCQR). The TCQR, which was launched following a request from the Ministry of Education, enables teacher candidates who are currently enrolled in an Ontario-accredited teacher education program to gain employment as Ontario Certified Teachers while completing their program.

The existing TCQR is now known as the Multi-Session Transitional Certificate of Qualification and Registration (MTCQR). This change will not impact College members who were granted a TCQR prior to August 30, 2023. They remain eligible to teach as long as their certificate is valid, and they maintain their membership in good standing.
