Accreditation Committee Decision

University of Ottawa – French-language Programs

French Language Program Delivered in Alternative Mode, January 21, 2004

In accordance with Regulation 347/02, Accreditation of Teacher Education Programs, the Accreditation Committee, at its January 21, 2004 meeting, granted initial accreditation to the proposed French-language Program of Professional Education offered in alternative mode at the University of Ottawa, for the period of two years (2006) or a period of time ending on the graduation of the second class of students enrolled in the program, whichever is the longer period of time, not to exceed three years (2007).

In making its decision the Committee considered:

  • the final report of the accreditation panel
  • the response of the Faculty of Education of the University of Ottawa, dated December 18, 2003 to the panel’s draft report
  • regulatory requirements of Regulation 347/02, Accreditation of Teacher Education Programs, and Regulation 184/97, Teachers’ Qualifications.

French Language Consecutive/Concurrent/Tech Studies Programs, July 28, 2004

In accordance with Regulation 347/02, Accreditation of Teacher Education Programs, the Accreditation Committee, at its July 28, 2004 meeting, granted general accreditation to the French-language

  • Consecutive Pre-service Teacher Education Program
  • Concurrent Pre-service Teacher Education Program
  • Pre-service Teacher Education Program - Certificate in Technological Education studies
  • offered at the University of Ottawa for a period of five years (2009).

In making its decision the Committee considered:

  • the final report of the accreditation panel
  • the response of the Faculty of Education of the University of Ottawa, dated July 14, 2004
  • regulatory requirements of Regulation 347/02, Accreditation of Teacher Education Programs, and Regulation 184/97, Teachers’ Qualifications
  • an oral presentation from a panel member highlighting information about the Certificate in Technological Education studies.

Amendments to Expiry Date

In accordance with the May 1, 2009 amendment to the accreditation period for programs of professional education in the Accreditation Regulation, the expiry dates for the programs accredited on July 28, 2004 are amended to July 28, 2011.

Regulation 347/02, Accreditation of Teacher Education Programs
May 1, 2009

On June 23, 2009, the Accreditation Committee and the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa agreed to extend the general accreditation period for these programs to July 28, 2012 to more evenly distribute the accreditation reviews conducted by the Ontario College of Teachers.
