Have you seen the Duty to Report advisory?
You recently received, via Professionally Speaking, the College’s latest professional advisory on what to do if you suspect that a child is a victim of abuse and neglect.

The College hosted symposia in six Ontario communities with representatives from local children’s aid societies and police services to encourage dialogue on breaking down barriers to reporting child abuse and neglect.

The jury in a provincial coroner’s inquest into the death of Jeffrey Baldwin – a five-year-old Toronto boy who suffered years of mistreatment by his grandparents – recommended an annual duty to report attestation by members of various professions. College consultations start this fall to gauge what members think of this idea.

In the new year, members will be randomly selected to participate in a survey.

The College sets the standards of practice for Ontario’s teaching profession. See how award-winning principal (and former Olympic wrestler) Chris Woodcroft, OCT, applies these standards in his Kitchener high school.
