Document Translation

We only accept documents in English or French. If documents are in a foreign language, you will need to have them translated. This includes your teaching certificate and any supporting documents, such as a marriage or birth certificate.

Please include the original translation for any documents you submit yourself, such as proof of identity, a name change document, a teaching certificate, etc.

Note: if any of your documents were sent directly to us by a granting institution, such as a college or university, a copy will be mailed to you for translation.

When submitting your translations you must include:

• a copy of the foreign-language document
• the translation
• an original, signed letter from the translator.

Your signed translator letter must include:

• a statement indicating the translation is accurate and authentic
• their ID number, seal or both
• their name, address and telephone number
• their original signature.

Translation organizations

Your translator must also work for, or be accredited by, one of the following approved organizations:

• a Canadian embassy, consulate or high commission in the country from which the document comes
• the embassy, consulate or high commission to Canada of the country that issued the document
• a federal, provincial or municipal government in Canada
• COSTI translation services
• a professional association of translators in Canada
• L’ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ)

Translations from World Education Services (WES)

We do not accept translations provided by WES, or any other organization not listed above. If you had your transcripts or documents sent to WES from the granting institution, you may ask them to forward a copy to us.
